Hardware and Software

We sometimes get asked what equipment and software people in the industry use. In general games developers use standard but high-specification PCs (perhaps with a high end consumer graphics card, or perhaps a professional graphics card) connected to a proprietary development system. Often an artist or musician will benefit from a larger hard disk and extra ram (or a Mac). In addition, most developers use GNU, GNU/SN Systems, Microsoft, or Metrowerks C/C++ compilers and IDEs. As for 3D modelling software, 3DS Max, Maya, or SoftImage are common.
